Following the twin blasts which killed more than 20 people in the capital, N’Djamena on Monday, Chadian government has banned women from wearing the full-face veil. Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said the security forces have been ordered to seize and burn all full-face veils sold in markets.
The ban applied “in the whole territory” and not only public places, he said at a meeting with religious leaders. The veil was being used as a “camouflage” by militants, the prime minister added. Most people in Chad are Muslims.
